Fulda district supports two more medical students
“We want to support medical students who already promise us that they will come back to the region and work here,” explained the first district councilor, explaining the core idea of the scholarship. In return for financial support, the scholarship holders undertake to work as a doctor for three years after completing their studies – either in one of the clinics, a general medical practice or in the Fulda district health department.
The young doctors retain flexibility: they have five years to complete their three years of medical practice after completing their studies. For example, they can initially gain two years of professional experience abroad or in other regions before returning to the Fulda district.
Franziska Schmitt is currently in her sixth semester of studying medicine in Würzburg, Ekko Stöppler is in her eighth semester in Tübingen. Both are looking forward to the support during their studies – and to working in their home region later.
So far, 43 students have taken part in the district and clinic program. The majority are still in the funding phase, some are already working in the region, others have already fulfilled their obligations.
At the end of last year In addition, 30 students from Fulda University received a Germany scholarship thanks to regional partners and a support association record campaign.
