On Friday May 22nd there was a gruesome discovery in Kruger National Park: two bodies were found. The dead, who had multiple stab wounds, were tourists, a 71-year-old man and a woman who had been missing since May 20th. The police have launched a murder investigation – and are now frantically searching for clues because the victims' car is still missing!

With the gruesome discovery of the two dead tourists, the Kruger National Park becomes a crime scene, prompting the police to mobilize all their forces, as the South African news portal SAPeople reports. Limpopo police have already laid charges of two counts of murder and kidnapping.

Lt. Gen. Thembi Hadebe confirmed that “experienced provincial government investigators have been brought into the case,” according to SAPeople. A manhunt was launched, both for suspects and for the two victims' car, which had disappeared from the crime scene.

The police are explicitly asking the public for information that would help “identify suspects or locate the missing vehicle” – of a green Ford Ranger double cab – could help.

Double murder in Kruger National Park – what happened to the tourists?

The tourists arrived at a camp in Kruger National Park on Sunday, May 17, 2026, SAPeople reported. The couple was traveling in a Ford Ranger. They were last seen at the Pafuri picnic site on Wednesday morning, May 20. But then they disappeared without a trace.

On Friday afternoon, May 22nd, other tourists finally made the grisly discovery: The bodies of the two were found floating in the water near Crooks Corner.

According to IOL, a South African news portal, the male victim had stab wounds to his upper body. The female victim is also said to have serious injuries, which were probably inflicted on the woman by a sharp object. The police assume a double murder and kidnapping.
