Anyone who loves “Dirty Dancing” will still get goosebumps at the “Mountain Lake Lodge” in Virginia. RTL reporter Dominik Maur was at the original filming location and found out which secrets are still the subject of conversation today.
“Dirty Dancing” filming location is more than a film set
Baby runs towards Johnny, he picks her up, the music starts. This moment alone is enough for the film to start playing again in your head. This is exactly the feeling fans from all over the world are still looking for in Pembroke, Virginia. Because the “Dirty Dancing” filming location has long been more than just a film set. It is a place of longing for everyone who wants to be very close to Baby and Johnny.

RTL reporter Dominik Maur immerses himself in the world of “Dirty Dancing” during a fan weekend at the “Mountain Lake Lodge”. Costume competition, joint film evening, dance training and of course the famous lifting figure are on the program.

Hotel manager Heidi Stone shows Dominik the most important places. Baby's hut is also included. However, there was no filming inside at all, she reveals. The interior shots were taken in the studio. Nevertheless, fans naturally want to stand exactly where the film made history in 1987.

There are still little legends surrounding Patrick Swayze to this day. The actor is said to have slept in room 232 during filming. However, the number was stolen so often that at some point the hotel just started sticking it on. Not the only souvenir problem.
