Two young men were seriously injured in an accident in Vogelsberg. They crashed a car into a tree and were trapped in the wreckage.
Mücke – A serious traffic accident on the B49 near Mücke in the Vogelsberg district left two seriously injured on Saturday evening. As the East Hesse Police Headquarters reported, an 18-year-old driver from Lich (Giessen district) left the road with his Renault Megane at around 9:20 p.m. shortly before Flensungen and crashed into a tree.
The young man was coming from Ruppertenrod towards Flensungen when he veered off the road to the right in a slight left-hand bend for reasons that are still unclear. The driver and front passenger were initially trapped in the vehicle as a result of the impact.

According to police, the passenger was able to free himself from the badly damaged car. According to reporters on site, the 19-year-old was treated by the emergency services and then flown to a clinic in Marburg with serious injuries in a rescue helicopter.
The driver had to be freed from the car by the fire department using hydraulic rescue equipment. He also suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital in an ambulance.
As Bernd Wißner, deputy community fire inspector, explained on site, the rescue was difficult because of the massive damage to the vehicle: “Due to the instability, the extrication took a little longer. Due to the massive deformation of the vehicle and the tearing of the body, we were unable to find a reasonable anchor point.”
The B49 remained completely closed until around 11.30 p.m. while the accident was being recorded and the vehicle was being recovered. The material damage caused is estimated at at least 15,000 euros.
In addition to the police and rescue service, two emergency doctors, the organizational head of the rescue service (OLRD), the district fire inspector and district fire chief as well as around 40 fire brigade personnel were on duty.
There was another accident in the Vogelsberg district a few days ago. A school bus and a car collided in Freiensteinauin which the bus driver was injured.
