Despite the cool temperatures, the first swimmers already jumped into the water. The “Schlitzerländer Burgenbad” has now officially started the season.
Schlitz – The Schlitz outdoor pool season is open. On Friday (May 8th) at 10:02 a.m. the “Schlitzerländer Burgenbad” opened its doors. A good dozen swimmers didn't let the rather cool temperatures stop them from taking their first laps.
Schlitz outdoor pool opens its doors to water lovers
At least the sun peeked out from between the clouds just in time for the start. If the weather forecast promises more than 20 degrees on Saturday (May 9th), a visit to the outdoor pool will certainly be even more tempting.
Anyone who approaches the entrance on foot will first see that the trees that were felled in the winter have been replaced by young growth. The lettering “Schlitzerländer Burgenbad” is now emblazoned above the entrance. After the entry ticket has been held on the digital screen at the turnstile, the path to the pools and sunbathing areas is clear.
The first swimmers are in the water less than five minutes after opening. They already had their swimwear on and didn't even have to bother going to the changing rooms.
“Just put the heater in,” a swimmer calls out to swimming master Uwe Gabler, who is doing the last things at the edge of the pool. “After 400 lanes it works,” answers Gabler and laughs. He knows that everything is a matter of getting used to. The water temperature in the pool is 23 degrees, but at the beginning of the season this seems cold.
Times and prices
The Schlitzer outdoor pool is open in May and September from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and in June, July and August from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Early swimming is on Wednesdays from 6:30 a.m.
A single ticket costs five euros for adults aged 18 and over and 3.50 euros for children and young people aged six to 17. Admission is free below. The 10-ticket ticket costs 45 euros for adults and 28 euros for children and young people. Adults get the season ticket for 125 euros and children and young people for 60 euros. The family ticket costs 175 euros.
Gabler still remembers the times when there was no heating in the outdoor pool. “We went into the water at 17/18 degrees.” And like every year, the Schlitzerlanders quickly get used to it and relax and swim their laps under the sun.
The Rosenbad in Fulda opened the outdoor swimming season at the beginning of May: On the first day, 900 guests visited the outdoor pool.
