Fulda University shines in the CHE ranking in a nationwide comparison and is half a star above the German average in terms of the learning environment.

Fulda – Fulda University achieved top ratings in this year's university ranking by the Center for University Development (CHE) and the weekly newspaper “Die Zeit”. The institution scored particularly well in the categories “Support at the beginning of your studies” and “Contact with professional practice”, as the Fulda University of Applied Sciences reports.

Student ratings are almost always at least four out of five stars. The bachelor's degree programs in business informatics, industrial engineering and social law performed particularly well – they achieved top scores in all categories. The courses in social work and business administration also achieved very good results for the fourth time in a row.

In addition to the study organization with 4.5 out of 5 stars, the students rated the equipment of the rooms and the library as well as the support from the teachers the best. The Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology even achieved the maximum number of points in the practical contact – an improvement compared to the last assessment in 2023.

“We are pleased that our students at Fulda University are once again very satisfied,” said Prof. Dr. Jörg Kreiker, Vice President for Teaching, Studies and Digitalization. The above-average ratings for the spatial and technical equipment as well as the study support signaled that the university is setting the right priorities. “The fact that we were able to improve once again in terms of practical relevance shows that our efforts to network in the region and expand dual study programs are successful,” continued Kreiker.

The social affairs department was able to maintain its good rankings at a high level. The subject of social work also stood out with a particularly high proportion of completed doctorates and degrees in a reasonable amount of time.

Center for University Development (CHE) university ranking

The CHE university ranking is considered a comprehensive source of information for prospective students in German-speaking countries. It is produced annually by the Center for University Development in cooperation with the weekly newspaper “Die Zeit”. The evaluation criteria vary depending on the subject. A third of the subjects are reassessed every year. This year the subjects are business administration, economics, economics, business informatics, industrial engineering, business psychology, business law as well as law and social work.

For Fulda University of Applied Sciences, this corresponds to the following subjects: Bachelor of Business Informatics (Department of AI), Bachelor of Industrial Engineering (Department of ET), Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Social Security & Social Administration (Department of SW), Bachelor of Business Law and Bachelor of Taxation as well as Bachelor of International Business Administration, Bachelor of International Business and Management and Bachelor of Logistics Management (all Department of W) as well as Bachelor of Social Law (Department of SK).

Fulda University also performed excellently in a nationwide university comparison. Students of the bachelor's degree programs in International Business Administration, International Business and Management and Logistics Management from the Department of Economics rated the institution as an excellent place to learn – the university is half a star above the average of all German universities. The subject of business law also scored points with particularly good support at the beginning of the course and strong integration with practice in the dual study program.

University President Prof. Dr. Karim Khakzar classified the results: “The results of the CHE rankings are a guide for us. We are pleased that the students already appreciate our modern campus so much.” The top results in the area of student support showed that the efforts to provide preliminary courses, tutorials, introductory events and advisory services were well received.

The university now offers more variants of study programs, including studies at an adapted pace, dual and international study programs, blended learning models and training-integrated study programs.

Already last year Fulda University was able to score good marks in the CHE ranking.
