Toni is facing an emotional break!
“I was in the hotel room with her all night” – this sentence from Erik changes everything for Toni in a moment, said Olivia Marei in an interview about the current series events on GZSZ. During an official interrogation in the Zoe Lopez murder case, Erik suddenly gives Matilda an alibi and sits opposite Toni and Holger Schmitt, causing a shocking moment that catches her completely unprepared. “It’s an absolute shock moment for Toni.” She remains professional, apologizes briefly and leaves the interrogation room – but continues to follow the conversation on the monitor in the office. “And at that moment her world collapses again.” It's another slap in the face for them. “She was actually on the verge of at least giving Erik another chance to talk – and that’s completely gone at this moment.” For Toni, this is “the last straw that breaks the camel’s back.” Olivia Marei reveals more about this in the interview. How does Toni find out about Erik and Matilda having sex again?
“Erik comes to the station to give his statement in the Zoe Lopez murder case and sits opposite Toni and her colleague Holger Schmitt. During this official interrogation, he suddenly gives Matilda an alibi and says that he was in the hotel room with her all night. This is an absolute shock moment for Toni. She remains professional, apologizes briefly and leaves the interrogation room – but continues to follow the conversation on the monitor in the office. And at that moment her world collapses again.”
How does she react to that?
“It's another slap in the face for her. She was actually close to at least giving Erik another chance to talk – but that's completely gone at this moment. For Toni, this is the last straw that breaks the camel's back.”
Toni can't believe what Erik tells her during the interrogation. He was with Matilda again.

How did you personally react when you read about it in the script?
“I especially remember the moment when we found out in the so-called future conversation. We sat together with the production and the head of story department and were told the upcoming storylines. When it became clear that Erik would end up in the hotel room with Matilda, we all breathed in at the same time (laughs). It was exciting to read the script again because it is simply very well structured. I really like it when different levels mix in GZSZ – here this crime plot all around The fact that Toni ends up in such a situation as an investigator is of course extremely dramatic and also fun to play as an actress.”
What does this mean for Erik and Toni?
“For Toni, this is clearly a final line. She consciously decides against giving Erik another chance. She has the feeling that he has hurt her too much and that there isn't enough coming from his side to really save the relationship. Even if I personally think that's a shame – especially because I like playing with Patrick so much – it's totally consistent for the character.”
Is ERNI finally history at GZSZ?
Do the fans finally have to say goodbye to the dream couple “Erni”?
“I'm afraid, at first it is. It's definitely a very clear break. At the same time, I'm a bit torn about it myself. On the one hand, of course, you're attached to this couple, but on the other hand, it's really exciting for us as actors to tell new stories and discover new dynamics.”
Is this supposed to be it forever between Toni and Erik?

Do you still believe in a happy ending for Erik and Toni, or has their love long since expired?
“I don't think the love has gone out. There's just too much going on between the two of them, there's too much depth. But I also think that there's just too much that's happened at the moment for them to be able to get closer again in the near future – especially from Toni's perspective.”
What can viewers look forward to in the next few weeks?
“The viewers can definitely look forward to a lot of excitement. The crime story “One murder – many suspects” about the murder of Zoe Lopez is currently in strong focus and brings with it some surprising twists. At the same time, there are always lighter, beautiful moments in Berlin's GZSZ neighborhood. For Toni herself it will be extremely emotional at first – but luckily she has those around her, her roommates and friends, who will support her.”
