
Heat waves and persistently high temperatures can be particularly dangerous for older people and chronically ill people. That's why there is a heat telephone in the Main-Kinzig district, which will be launched again in a few weeks.
Main-Kinzig district – High temperatures during the day and a lack of cooling at night put a lot of strain on the human organism – and Heat waves are becoming increasingly common in our latitudes. The heat can pose health risks, especially for older people and people with a history of stress. In the The so-called heat telephone was therefore set up in the Main-Kinzig district a few years ago.
Main-Kinzig district activates heat telephone – registration is free
This year, the telephone information service runs from June 15th to August 28th. Those interested can register with the district's health and safety office. On days with an official heat warning from the German Weather Service for the Main-Kinzig district, trained employees will contact registered participants by telephone. According to a district announcement, this usually takes place between 8:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. in the morning.
The employees provide tips and recommendations on how people can protect themselves in high temperatures and better manage their everyday lives on hot days. They also pay attention to whether the people they call have any health problems. If this is the case, relatives or the treating family doctor can be informed after consultation. However, individual medical advice cannot be provided as part of the offer.
Registration for the heat telephone is possible by telephone on (06051) 8514600 or by email buergerinformation@mkk.de. Participation is free. People who have already registered in previous years do not need to do so again.
