Girl suddenly disappears into the water!
A group of young people go swimming in a river in the nice weather. Suddenly one of them goes under and doesn't emerge alive.
Rescue workers searched in vain for two hours
A young person drowned in the Erft in Grevenbroich. The fire department in Grevenbroich said the girl was in the river with other teenagers on Thursday afternoon (April 30) and then suddenly went under without resurfacing.
The other young people called the emergency number, firefighters and so-called water rescuers, including current rescuers and divers from the Neuss DRK water rescue service, rushed over and searched the water – a total of 70 emergency services were active.

The hope of finding the girl alive was not fulfilled: after almost two hours, divers found her body in the water. An emergency doctor on the bank could only determine her death.
Care for relatives and friends
Emergency pastors looked after the girl's relatives and the other young people involved. It was initially unclear why the girl went under and never resurfaced.
