Friedewald – A fire in a garage in Friedewald caused significant damage on Thursday morning (April 30). The flames spread to the neighboring house and made it uninhabitable. The resident was able to get to safety in time, so that according to current knowledge, no one was injured.
Garage fire in Friedewald makes house uninhabitable
At around 8.15 a.m. the police were informed by the Hersfeld-Rotenburg rescue control center about the fire on Sommersgarten Street. The homeowner noticed the fire in her garage and immediately called the fire department. Despite the rapid intervention of the rescue workers, they were unable to prevent the flames from spreading to the roof of the house.
The building was significantly damaged by the fire and is currently uninhabitable. According to initial police estimates, the property damage is in the mid to high six-figure range. The criminal police have started investigating the cause of the fire. Information on this could not initially be provided.
A residential building also recently burned in Fulda. Fortunately, no one was injured as there were no people in the property. The material damage amounts to 150,000 euros.
