
A cyclist falls on the route to the Wasserkuppe. The 31-year-old man from Mainz suffered serious injuries.
Poppenhausen – An accident with personal injury occurred on Saturday (April 25th) around 12:50 p.m. on the municipal road between Künzell-Kalkhof and Poppenhausen. A 31-year-old cyclist from Mainz, who was on a trip to the Wasserkuppe, fell and seriously injured himself, the police said.

The cyclist was on the route from Künzell-Kalkhof towards Poppenhausen. In a steep curve in the Rhön, he lost control and fell, said the East Hesse police headquarters in Fulda. “The 31-year-old suffered serious injuries as a result of the fall,” said a police spokesman.
An ambulance took the seriously injured man to the hospital. According to estimates by the police in Hilders, the bicycle suffered material damage amounting to 200 euros. From April 27th, the Wasserkuppe in the Rhön will be difficult to reach. Complete closures could severely impact tourism on the highest mountain in Hesse.
A few hours after the cyclist's accident, a motorcyclist fell badly near Steinau an der Straße. A Maserati cut the curve on the winding route in the Kinzigtal. The driver committed an accident. A rescue helicopter flew the young biker to the hospital.
