
A 46-year-old driver had an accident near Birstein in the Main-Kinzig district. His Mercedes crashed into a tree. The cause of the accident remains unclear for the time being.
Birstein – Early on Saturday morning (April 25th) an accident occurred at the entrance to Birstein in which a driver drove off the road. According to initial information from the Southeast Hesse Police Headquarters, the man was driving a Mercedes Vito on the main road at around 4:50 a.m. He came from the direction of Brachttal.
Serious accident: man crashes into tree with Mercedes
“For reasons that are still unclear, he lost control and crashed into a tree and a large traffic sign off the road,” reported police spokesman Thomas Leipold. The 46-year-old driver suffered injuries and was taken to hospital. The impact caused both the tree and the traffic sign to fall over.
The police in the Main-Kinzig district were initially unable to quantify the amount of damage caused. Meanwhile A 22-year-old motorcyclist had a fatal accident two days earlier on the B276 federal highway near Schotten in the Vogelsberg district. The cause of the accident is still being investigated by the investigating police.
