Shortly before departure, a vacation trip turns into a tragedy
In Vienna, a German tourist falls into the water while boarding a Danube cruise ship and dies at the scene of the accident despite quick help. A shock for all passengers.
It is early Tuesday afternoon (April 14th) as a cruise ship on the Danube prepares to leave Vienna. A German woman, who is apparently one of the ship's guests, wants to board the ship via the jetty when, for reasons that are still unclear, she starts to sway and falls into the Danube between the jetty and the ship. This is reported by the Kronen Zeitung, among others.
The crew reacted immediately, pulled the eighty-year-old woman out of the water and immediately began resuscitation attempts. At the same time, the police, fire brigade and rescue workers arrive. But despite all the measures, the senior citizen can no longer be saved – she dies at the scene of the accident.
Now the police are investigating. There is currently no evidence of foul play. For the other passengers, who actually wanted to start off comfortably on a Danube cruise, the vacation turns into a shock experience – the ship's departure was canceled. (ros)
