A technical defect in an ambulance caused a rescue helicopter to be alerted after a forestry accident near Nüsttal. He took the injured man to the hospital.
Nüsttal-Gotthards – With the operational keyword “trapped/buried person”, the Fulda control center alerted rescue workers to Nüsttal-Gotthards on Saturday afternoon around 3:20 p.m. As Ricardo Neumann, second deputy head of the Nüsttal fire department, reported when asked by our newspaper, a man was hit by a falling branch while felling a tree. Luckily he wasn't trapped. When the emergency services arrived, he complained of back pain.

After initial medical treatment, the injured person was handed over to the emergency services, who were supposed to take him to the hospital. However, due to a defect in one of the ambulance's tires, they quickly decided to alert the rescue helicopter. According to the police, he flew the man, who was slightly injured, to the hospital. In order to “play it safe,” this was the best solution because of the “back injury that cannot be ruled out,” said Neumann.
In the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district, the police had checked two long timber trucks the day before. One of the two vehicles was around 40 percent overloaded.
