The Hünfeld district of Dammersbach can be seen in the Hessenschau on Saturday. A dozen pairs of twins live in the “Doll Village”.
Hünfeld – What has to happen for a whole village to stand on its feet and want to present itself from its best side? It has to be called a “dad village”. Hesse show be drawn. Dammersbach was lucky this time – and showed how unique a village can be. Just a few weeks ago, the Fulda district of Kohlhaus was drawn.
As hr-Reporter Ekkehard “Ekki” Drewes Shortly before 8 p.m. on Thursday evening Dammersbach was called a “Dolles Dorf”, things became hectic in the Hünfeld district. Messages were immediately written to the WhatsApp group and there were many phone calls. “We got together with 50 or 60 people in a short time to advise us,” reported local mayor Uwe Walter. After a meeting with the team hr The program was set consisting of Drewes, Frank Czarnach (camera), Petra Bühler (sound) and Mark Kröll (drone). And that was it.

Within eight hours, Dammersbach showed its uniqueness. There were the 23 Fendt tractors that showed a specially created choreography. A tree was previously felled in the forest village. “A lot of forest workers worked here. We're in a wooded valley, that's why it had to be done,” he said.
But it became even more special when the citizens gathered on the village square in front of the bronze sculpture of the Beerweiber Dammersbach. First Christa Gensler recited a poem and talked about the not always easy history of the village. “Conditions used to be very bad here.” But in the end we always overcame all adversities.
“That alone is enough for its own show,” said Drewes, commenting on the remarks, which received plenty of applause. Shortly after that, things got really strange. Twelve (!) pairs of twins in all age groups live in Dammersbach. Even the eldest woman from Dammersbach had a twin brother and can – of course – be happy about having twins as great-grandchildren. “They don’t do things by halves here,” said Drewes.
The youth fire brigade, which became Hesse champions in 2024, demonstrated in an action-packed manner on the sports field how to lay out hoses and work together. Accompanied by curious looks, she proved why she won the title – and would like to win it again.
