
A 16-year-old moped cyclist fell in Neuenstein after fleeing from the police and sustained minor injuries.
Neuenstein – The incident occurred on Wednesday (April 8) around 9 p.m. in the Neuenstein district of Obergeis, the police said. A patrol from Bad Hersfeld noticed the young person on Kreuzeichenstrasse and sat down directly behind him. The officers used stop signals, flashing lights and a siren to ask the driver to stop.
Police control withdrawn: 16-year-old falls while trying to escape
According to police, instead of stopping, the 16-year-old accelerated his moped and tried to evade control. His escape initially led via Raiffeisenstraße in the direction of “Am Mühlengraben”. From there, the young person tried to escape along a field and meadow path. However, he fell on his own on the unpaved surface and was slightly injured. According to police, there was no property damage.
The officers seized the moped and the teenager's driver's license. After the police measures on site were completed, the 16-year-old was released. He now has to answer on suspicion of a prohibited motor vehicle race. The background to the escape is the subject of police investigations.
