
The police carried out traffic checks in Schlüchtern on Tuesday (April 7th). Among other things, they caught a driver who had not had a driver's license for two years.
Schlüchtern – The officers checked the Polish citizen on Hanauer Strasse around 11:30 a.m. They discovered that the man's driver's license had been revoked by a court ruling in 2024 because of an alleged hit-and-run. However, he had so far refused to hand over the document.

Accordingly, the police in Schlüchtern confiscated the driver's license and are now sending it to the responsible authority. He is also now facing proceedings for driving without a license. Because the Pole also has no permanent residence in Germany, he had to pay a security deposit of 800 euros.
In total, the officers checked 48 vehicles and 54 people on Hanauer Strasse and Gartenstrasse between 9 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. The focus of the checks was on safety-relevant factors in road traffic. According to the police report, these include the correct use of seat belts, cell phone use while driving, vehicle safety and compliance with general traffic rules.
A total of 24 seatbelt violations and 11 cell phone violations were punished in Schlüchtern. The driver of an e-scooter also drove it without insurance. The aim of the control was to make road users aware of which factors are important for the safety of all road users.
