
For the third time, pastors in Fulda offered a public washing of feet in front of the parish church on Maundy Thursday – in the best weather and with musical accompaniment.
Fulda – Following the example of Jesus, on Maundy Thursday (April 2nd) in bright sunshine, a pastor and several pastors from the Protestant and Catholic churches offered people a foot washing in front of the Fulda city parish church.

“We have been offering foot washing for the third year now, but we have never had such beautiful weather,” says Deacon Michael Friedrich happily. He, Dean Dr., washed for around an hour and a half. Thorsten Waap, dean and city priest Stefan Buß, vicar Hanna Ueberson and preacher Marco Weingärtner on Maundy Thursday at noon in front of the city parish church following the example of Jesus.
“It is important that we as a church don’t just stay behind our walls, but go out and show: We have a God who is with people and feels for them,” emphasizes Friedrich. “God kneels before the disciples and becomes very small to wash their feet.” The event was musically accompanied by singing and guitar playing by Deacon Dr. Mine Coetsier accompanies.
Maundy Thursday marked the start of the Easter holidays – just now Many services are planned for the coming days in Fulda Cathedral. With festive music and special liturgies, the cathedral becomes the center of Holy Week.
