A strong thunderstorm is gathering over the Fulda district. The DWD warns of lightning strikes, hail and floods – caution is advised.
Region – A strong thunderstorm will pass over the Fulda district on Monday afternoon: The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued an official level 2 of 4 warning. Accordingly, there is an acute danger from lightning strikes, occasional falling trees and falling objects. Hail, aquaplaning and short-term flooding of streets and underpasses are also possible. The warning is currently valid until 3:45 p.m.
This means that the unsettled weather situation in East Hesse that has been going on for days continues. Changeable April weather with showers, sleet and sometimes even snow and slippery conditions had recently shaped the region – and there is no lasting calming in the weather in sight in the coming days either.
Thunderstorm over Fulda: Weather service warns of lightning and hail
In addition to the Fulda district, the neighboring districts of Main-Kinzig, Vogelsberg and Hersfeld-Rotenburg are also affected by the current thunderstorm warning.
The DWD strongly advises people to avoid spending time outdoors if possible and to seek shelter indoors. Water should be avoided, loose objects should be secured and behavior in traffic should be adapted to the conditions. Caution is particularly advised in underpasses and on road sections at risk of flooding.
