The case surrounding Collien Fernandes (44) continues to make headlines!
As a result, other prominent women are increasingly speaking publicly about personal experiences. Now ex-“Tagesschau” speaker Judith Rakers (50) has remembered two formative situations in her childhood in her podcast.
Many situations with men “that were tricky”
In the latest edition of their podcast “Baborie & Rakers – What was going on?” Radio presenter Ariana Baborie (38) and Judith Rakers exchanged views on the highly publicized topic. And they also talked about their own experiences.
“Of course, I have experienced many situations in my life with men that were very, very difficult”explained Judith, remembering a situation when she was about seven years old. “As a child, I was once a victim of a man in the forest who threatened me with his dog.” The man grabbed her arm and then touched himself inappropriately with her arm. “That was the worst situation.”

The trauma is still deep today. “By the way, that’s the reason I’m only afraid of one breed of dog.”Judith continued to reveal. Because the man in the forest threatened her with a German Shepherd. The current presenter immediately confided in her parents. A few weeks later the police contacted us with good news: The man was caught. However, there was no comparison because the man had already attracted attention for other, even more serious acts. Rakers' podcast colleague was visibly moved by the story. “Oh God, Judith, I’m going to cry”said Ariana Baborie, shocked.

But that wasn't the only stressful experience Judith had to go through as a child. There was also harassment on a bus ride to school. “A man who starts kind of playing with his genitals while I'm sitting next to him, kind of rubbing his arm on me and stuff.”said the 50-year-old.

Her father had prepared her how she should behave if a man approached her inappropriately in such a situation. The future journalist then did what she was taught: she stood up and loudly told the man to stop touching his genitals. “Everyone then turned around and he immediately jumped up and got out at the next station,” she reported further.
Judith Rakers sends a clear message: Silence protects perpetrators – speaking protects those affected. Perhaps that is the most important reason why these stories needed to be told now.
