After the body was found on Ohmstrasse in Fulda, new findings are available: the dead man had serious injuries, probably from falling down the stairs. However, these were probably not the cause of death – final results are still pending.

Fulda – As a reminder: On Sunday, November 23rd last year, a body was found in a residential building on Ohmstrasse in Fulda around 12 p.m. The deceased was a 62-year-old resident of the house. According to initial findings, the man left a location in the vegetable market area around midnight and then returned to his apartment.

In order to clarify the exact circumstances of death, the criminal police began an investigation. The public prosecutor also ordered an autopsy. This has now brought new insights.

Body found in Fulda: autopsy reveals serious injuries

“During the autopsy, in addition to various hematomas and abrasions on the extremities, a tear in the left ear, the explosion of a cervical vertebra and a traumatic brain injury were found on the body,” explains public prosecutor and press spokesman Andreas Hellmich.

It has not been proven that the injuries were caused by external force. However, this is not ruled out. Forensic medicine currently cites a so-called “multi-act stair fall” as the most plausible explanation.

However, according to the autopsy report, the resulting injuries were not fatal. “Rather, the autopsy examines the cause of death as acute alcohol/drug intoxication in conjunction with significant previous damage to the heart and lungs,” said Hellmich. However, the toxicological investigations have not yet been completed.
