The “People for Future Gelnhausen/Main-Kinzig” association is presenting a photo exhibition in the Bergwinkel Museum Schlüchtern from Sunday under the title “Climate Change in Kinzigtal”.
Schlüchtern – The exhibition “Climate Change in the Kinzigtal” in Schlüchtern shows the results of a photo competition that the association organized in 2024 in cooperation with the “Aktionskreisaktives Niedermittlau”. Numerous citizens from the district, for example from Schlüchtern, took part and submitted pictures that impressively depict climate change in the region.
The show will open with a vernissage on Sunday (March 29th) at 3 p.m. and is expected to run until Sunday, April 19th. Entry is free.
Climate change in the Kinzigtal: Photo exhibition shows local consequences
Before the photographs can be seen in Schlüchtern, those interested were able to marvel at them in Gelnhausen. The show, designed as a traveling exhibition, had its first stop in the rooms of the adult education center (education partner Main-Kinzig). The winners of the photo competition were honored at the opening of the exhibition there. The aim of the competition and exhibition is to document and make visible the regional effects of global warming through photographs.
The exhibition shows photos taken by citizens of the region and show the influence of heavy rain, drought and heat in the Kinzigtal. “Our aim is to create awareness of the challenges of global warming and to raise awareness of the urgency of climate adaptation measures,” explains Harald Eifert, initiator of the competition and member of “People for Future”. “With each image we want to intensify the discourse about the necessary steps for a climate-friendly future.”
Gudula Seegmüller from “People for Future” and co-initiator of the photo exhibition explains: “With impressive and creative images that capture the beauty and vulnerability of nature and people, we show the effects of climate change here on our doorstep. Climate change has arrived in the Kinzigtal and we can't wait any longer, we finally have to act.”
The photo exhibition can be seen until Sunday, April 19th. The show will then be shown in the Hanau Environmental Center. Further information is available at peopleforfuture-mkk.de/photo competition. (ug)
