
A rescue helicopter was called to a tragic work accident in a forest at the weekend. A young man was badly hit in the head by a branch.
Steinau – A forestry worker had an accident while doing routine work in a forest between Steinau and Marjoß. According to police, the incident occurred on Saturday morning (March 21) along State Road 3196. Two men were felling trees here.

When the workers brought down a beech tree, a massive, broken branch apparently came loose. This hit the 22-year-old worker with full force in the head. Although the young man was wearing his protective gear, he suffered serious head injuries from the force of the impact. A rescue helicopter was called in and took the injured person to a clinic.
The police have started an investigation to clarify the exact cause of the accident. It is also unclear whether the second worker involved was negligent.
Just a few days earlier there was also a helicopter operation in Steinau. A driver left the road for unknown reasons and crashed into a property wall. The car had to be towed after the accident.
