The RhönSprudel Mini World Championships experienced an atmospheric final day on Thursday (March 19th) in the Flieden district sports hall. One game in particular was tough.
Flieden – With loud cheers, drums and horns, the spectators in the fully occupied Flieden district sports hall created a real final atmosphere. In addition, the FZ-Schlaufuchs really heated up the audience and encouraged them to dance.

On the pitch, the students showed their best side – they played numerous exciting and highly impressive games. Especially in the semi-final between Ecuador and the USA, the game went back and forth: one goal followed the next, so that in the end there were eight goals. In the game for third place, a penalty shootout had to be decided after ten minutes.

Tom Fröhlig from Team USA was the top scorer with 16 goals. Ecuador's goalkeeper Oskar Schawag was voted the best goalkeeper, deciding the game for third place with his saves in the shootout. The fan prize for the final tournament went to the Eitratal primary school, which represented England. Portugal received a fan award for the most atmospheric performance of the preliminary round.
Participants in the final were South Africa (Bimbach Primary School), Canada (Fulda Bardo School), Morocco (Künzell Don Bosco School), the USA (Petersberg-Steinau Wendelinus School), Ecuador (Neuhof Castle School), the Netherlands (Steinau Brothers Grimm School), Uruguay (Langenbieber Primary School) and England (Eitra Valley Primary School).
