According to the report, the investigation is ongoing against unknown persons. Sebastian T., a young man from the area, will be convicted of murder in a circumstantial trial in spring 2024. However, the Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe later overturned the verdict due to bias on the part of the presiding judge. In a second trial the man is acquitted.

The Traunstein regional court comes to the conclusion that the evidence collected is not sufficient to connect Sebastian T. with Hanna's death. Among other things, witnesses contradicted each other. The judgment has been legally binding since December 2025 and Sebastian T. will be compensated for the more than 900 days in prison he suffered.
What happened to student Hanna W. back then?
It is still completely unclear whether the young woman's death was an accident or a crime. This was not clarified in the proceedings at the time. According to the court, the only thing that is certain is that the defendant had nothing to do with it.

However, the investigators continue to assume that Hanna fell victim to a crime after visiting the disco in the “Eiskeller”. However, there doesn't seem to be any new evidence. It seems that the police still don't want to close the case yet. After all these years, will it perhaps be clarified how Hanna died?
