Long-time managing director Wolfgang Gutberlet didn't know anything about the Tegut sale a few weeks ago. Nevertheless, he wrote down his thoughts in a kind of obituary some time ago.
Fulda/Dipperz – From 1973 to 2009, Wolfgang Gutberlet, son of the company founder Theo Gutberlet, steered the fortunes of Tegut. After so many years in the industry, it is obvious that developments are becoming apparent for players and observers like him. A few weeks ago, he says, he wrote down his thoughts and connections to the company. On Wednesday, the Swiss Migros announced that it would sell Tegut.

“After almost 80 years, the story of Tegut ends. It emerged after the war from the need of a seriously wounded father (1947) with a sense of the needs of the people. In the beginning it was about providing people with food, later, also about the 'how', with a view to health and beauty, in order to give these increasing importance as prosperity increased,” says Wolfgang Gutberlet, who has been awarded several management awards.
He worked for and was associated with the company for 42 years, and held managerial responsibility for 36 years. “Tegut worked on it, it was good and therefore dared to always take up new things and has therefore grown. In the new millennium, the urge to grow became too strong. If you can give some value to something, it's good to grow, if your own value is too much in the foreground, it's easier to make mistakes,” states Gutberlet.
The long-standing Tegut boss, who handed over management to his son Thomas in 2009, continues: “Nothing would have been possible without the good and loyal cooperation of many people in the company and also many people outside the company, the suppliers and especially the customers.”
Gutberlet recognizes Tegut employees and customers
“I have presented the period from the beginning of 1947 under the leadership of my father and then myself in a biography that I recommend to those interested,” said Gutberlet. This biography is available at the “LindenGut” in Dipperz. Alternatively, this can be sent by post for a fee of 10 euros.
“In 2009, at the age of 65, my aspirations led me to take on a new initiative, the 'LindenGut' in Dipperz, where I try to advance the question of good, healthy food and lifestyle on a small scale,” concludes Gutberlet.
