In Kinzigtal, a bank employee prevented cash from being handed over. Unknown people had previously put pressure on a 90-year-old by telephone. At the bank he was supposed to get several thousand euros out of the safe deposit box.

Bruchköbel – An attentive bank employee prevented several thousand euros in cash from being handed over to suspected fraudsters in Bruchköbel on Monday (March 9th). According to police, the incident occurred in a bank branch on Bahnhofstrasse.

As the criminal police in Hanau reported, unknown people had previously put pressure on a 90-year-old senior from Bruchköbel by telephone for hours. They tricked the man into believing that a family member had been involved in a fatal traffic accident. Incarceration can only be avoided by paying a high deposit.

In order to get the money, the perpetrators sent a person who accompanied the senior citizen to the bank in a taxi. In the branch, the 90-year-old wanted to get several thousand euros from his locker. However, the employee there had doubts about the pensioner's description and refused him access to the locker. In doing so, he thwarted the planned transfer of money to the fraudsters.

The person who picked up the car then drove the senior citizen back to his home address in a taxi. The man then fled in an unknown direction. The unknown man is described as around 30 years old and around 1.75 meters tall. According to the statement, he has a normal build, short black hair and a beard. Witnesses who can provide information about the man described or the taxi are asked to call the criminal police in Hanau on (06181) 100 123.

Also on March 9th, a dispute on a bus in Hanau escalated. A 25-year-old was attacked with a knife and suffered life-threatening injuries. The police investigated on suspicion of attempted homicide, but there are now also indications of self-defense.
