It must have been a terrible sight!
On the night of March 3rd, emergency services found the remains of a man in an apartment in Saint-Denis, France. The dead man, who is said to be the 33-year-old tenant of the apartment, is lying in pieces on a plastic sheet, as the newspaper La Montagne reports. What happened there?
A dispute arises over outstanding rent
The investigation in the city in the suburbs of Paris is still ongoing, but the police have already arrested a suspect. The public prosecutor's office in Bobigny has charged the owner of the apartment building with murder and desecration of corpses, writes the broadcaster BFMTV. The investigators assume that the landlord killed the 33-year-old Spaniard – apparently because he did not pay his rent on time.

Landlord is caught with a dismembered body in the apartment
In order to cover up the crime, he is said to have dismembered the body. But then he apparently didn't get around to making the body parts disappear. As the newspaper La Montagne reports, the tenant's aunt is said to have alerted the police because she was worried about her nephew. She had tried in vain to reach the 33-year-old for days.

When the emergency services arrived on site, the landlord was said to be in the apartment. He initially refused entry into the apartment. When the police arrived, he opened the door. The emergency services then discovered a blood-stained tarpaulin containing body parts. Additional remains were also found in a plastic box and in the bathroom.
According to the newspaper, the landlord confessed that he had already killed the man on February 27th. He was brought before a judge and is in custody.
