Two dead in wind turbine accident near Birstein: expert commissioned
The two fitters had a fatal accident on February 25th while working on a wind turbine that was currently under construction near Birstein. For reasons that are still unclear, a work basket inside the tower containing the two 32-year-olds fell 60 meters into the depths. Both men did not survive the crash.
Several wind turbines are currently being built in the Fischborn wind farm in the Kinzigtal. The press office of the police headquarters in Southeast Hesse said on Tuesday (March 3) that investigations into the cause were still ongoing.
The police also referred the matter to the press office of the now responsible public prosecutor's office in Hanau. There Markus Jung explained that a report had been commissioned on the accident. “It will be a long time before the final report is available,” explained the public prosecutor.
“We will only comment on the possible cause of the accident once this final report is available,” said the Hanau public prosecutor.
