Maintal – Bones were found in Maintal during excavation work on a construction site. The bones were discovered on Am Felsenkeller street in the Hochstadt district on Monday afternoon shortly after 12 p.m. The police and the local public order office were informed immediately.

In order to determine the origin and age of the bones, the authorities in the Main-Kinzig district called in the forensic medicine institute. The site was cordoned off and secured with a construction fence. Bones appear all the time.

In 2025, a particularly strange case caused a stir: A 1,500-year-old skeleton was handed over to the Fulda city and district archeology department in an Ikea bag. This was anything but everyday, the city of Fulda announced at the time.
