Burghaun wants to become a pilot municipality for the “Hessen-Kita”. Mayor Dieter Hornung (CDU) exchanged ideas with the State Secretary in the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs, Manuela Strube (SPD).

Burghaun – The innovative concept relies on a modular construction method, which in particular enables the approval process to be significantly accelerated, according to the town hall of the market town in Hünfelder Land. At the same time, all planning costs are eliminated for the municipalities.

“That would be a significant advantage for us, as we had previously earmarked one million euros for this,” explains Mayor Dieter Hornung. Participation could therefore significantly reduce the burden on the budget. Manuela Strube said that the ministry is currently still in the planning phase.

Further steps will soon be agreed with suitable municipalities. However, it is currently too early to make concrete commitments. In addition, the State Secretary promoted the new special loan for investments in the daycare sector.

In the future, the state of Hesse will provide municipalities with a low-interest loan with an interest rate reduction of 50 percent for the construction of daycare centers. The total volume is 100 million euros, with a maximum of 2.5 million available per project.

During a conversation that lasted more than an hour Manuela Strube and Dieter Hornung visited the Regenbogenland kindergarten in Burghaun. There was a brief exchange between the State Secretary and the facility manager Manuela Heimbuch.

Property next to school offers good conditions

Strube and Hornung then visited the property next to the elementary school where the new kindergarten is to be built. The State Secretary was convinced that the location could offer good conditions for the pilot project – both structurally and in terms of high-quality educational care for Burghaun's children.

The head of the town hall thanked you for the constructive exchange: “The opportunity to take part in the Hessen-Kita would be a great benefit for us. We look forward to further coordination and any conceptual development.”
