Laura Gaul is fulfilling a dream with the beer bar “ZumBrauer Gaul”. She opens the restaurant, in which she consciously plays with her last name, on Peterstor in Fulda.

Fulda – “I want to show what beer can do and what can be made from four simple raw materials,” says Laura Gaul when she talks about her concept for her bar. For example, the trained brewer has in mind tastings, discussions and seminars about beer culture.

She spent three months renovating the rooms at Peterstor 21. Seating on beer barrels and outside on benches made from beer crates, flower vases made from old beer cans from all over the world and murals based on bottle labels – the theme of beer is tangible everywhere in the room.

has inspiration the 31-year-old collected at her previous places of work in Motten, Seligenstadt, Ostheim, Rügen and Sweden. It's no surprise that she has, among other things, beers from there on her four taps. They are mounted on a bar made of glass blocks and wood. This was built by carpenter Leo Möller using the old wooden jetty on Lake Guckai.

The bar will not only serve wheat, spritz and cellar beer as well as natural cyclists on tap, but also bottled and canned beers from all over the world. She will be offering 18 varieties to start with, including a “0.0 percenter” and a low-calorie and gluten-free beer.

Her professional career is also reflected in the selection: “I have a beer on offer from almost all the breweries where I have worked.” She is also talking to a Swedish brewery about brewing her own beer – specifically for the “Brauerei Gaul”. In addition, no vacation or trip has gone by in which she did not look at other bars and try beers – including those whose cans now serve as flower vases on the wall.

The idea for the bar has “probably been in her head for seven years. Now is the right time and it feels good that something is happening,” says Laura Gaul and is looking forward to opening the doors to her bar, where the horse motif is visible everywhere as a reference to her last name. The toilets, for example, are “boxes” for stallions and mares.

In time for Hesse day She has now opened the bar after initially celebrating with family, friends and supporters. The tap has been open to the public since Friday, June 5th.
