In Berlin early this morning, eight people were injured – two of them seriously – in an accident between a taxi and a police van. The remaining six suffered minor injuries, a fire department spokesman said. On X the police write that the emergency vehicle tipped over on its side during the accident. A helicopter was also used in the rescue. It is said that the scene of the accident has been largely closed.
According to the police, the accident occurred around 6:10 a.m. in Berlin-Kreuzberg at the corner of Wilhelmstrasse and Hallesches Ufer. The cause of the accident is still being clarified. According to the information, the emergency vehicle does not appear to have had blue lights on.

As the fire department spokesman said, in addition to the occupants of the police car, the taxi driver was also injured. No further information was initially provided. According to police, an investigation has begun.
