Vera and Max Dudyka opt for airier clothing for the Hessentag in Fulda. The new outfits promise style and comfort in the heat.

Fulda – A saying goes: “Clothes make the man” – and that Fulda Hessentag couple Vera and Max Dudyka, who were last allowed to speak in the state parliamentproves once again how much truth there is in it. In addition to the elegant velvet jackets, there is now also a lighter summer version for the numerous appointments around Hesse day.

The two feel in good hands in the fashion studio of fashion designer and master tailor Sylvia Franc-Kotsch and her husband Jürgen Kotsch – and it shows. As soon as you enter the studio in Fulda, people are joking and laughing. But how do you come up with the idea of getting a second outfit for Hessentag?

The couple gives the answer in unison: “It was so warm in Bad Vilbel last year that the idea arose to buy a more 'airy' outfit. With the velvet suit and the velvet bolero, it quickly became clear: that wouldn't work in hot weather.”

Things then get serious in the fitting room. The two of them are very excited. Sylvia Franc-Kotsch explains her concept as follows: “I have reinterpreted the baroque with the modern.” So two new blouses were added to the existing skirt – all in the colors of Hesse Day.

A top is a mixture of a body and a blouse. The sleeves are lined with tulle. The second creation is made of mint-colored silk chiffon with lots of ruffles and Vera particularly liked it. In return, a silk bow will adorn Max's neck. There is also a “peplum” for Vera made of the same material as Max’s pants and vest.

The outfit is completed by a so-called fascinator. The headband is decorated with feathers, tulle and a few extras that will only be visible on Hessentag. “The new outfit is amazing. It's so summery and fresh. The color is fresher, we stand out. And we can now move around in 38 degree temperatures without breaking out in a sweat,” beams Vera.

A light frock coat made of ornamental fabric (jacquard) with plain-colored trousers and a matching vest was created for Max. The back part of the vest, which is also made from the ornamental fabric, is an eye-catcher. Max emphasizes that the frock coat is very comfortable to wear. With a smile he explains: “When I still think about how I felt in the velvet frock coat in 37 degrees, I’m now looking forward to 37 degrees.”

At the end of the fitting, Sylvia Franc-Kotsch comes up with a surprise. Vera and her daughter Flora each receive a handbag designed in the colors of the costumes as a gift. It's hardly surprising that Flora is immediately enthusiastic about presenting her new bag: “Every girl needs a handbag.” There's probably nothing more to add to that.
