Sandberg – After an accident on state highway 2288 between Bischofsheim and Sandberg in the Rhön-Grabfeld district, the police are looking for a silver-colored VW Tiguan with a missing cover on the right wing mirror. As the Bad Neustadt police station reports, the accident occurred on Thursday (April 23) around 2 p.m.

According to the information, an 88-year-old cyclist was traveling from Bischofsheim towards Sandberg when a driver driving in the same direction tried to overtake. The driver of the car did not maintain the prescribed side distance and hit the cyclist. The senior fell and sustained minor injuries. The driver did not stop but continued driving undeterred.
The emergency services took the injured man to a hospital. The Bad Neustadt police station has started investigations into negligent bodily harm and hit-and-run. The focus of the search is a silver-colored VW Tiguan that is missing the cover for the right exterior mirror. Two weeks earlier, a cyclist in the Bavarian Rhön succumbed to serious injuries after a fall. The cause was probably a collision with a wild animal.
