After a five-year break, Hendrik Duryn alias Stefan Vollmer returns to his classroom. The tenth season of the cult series “The Teacher” with six new episodes at the end of May.
Stefan Vollmer returns to the classroom
To kick things off, there will be three new episodes in a row on May 28, 2026 at 8:15 p.m. on RTL, with the other three episodes scheduled to be broadcast a week later. If you don't want to wait that long, you can watch the MadeFor Film production on RTL+ from May 21st, where the episodes will be made available weekly in double packs.
In terms of content, the new season begins after Stefan Vollmer's departure from school. Together with his daughter Frida (Hanna Barbara Jurgons) he had built a quieter life in Leipzig and opened his own workshop. But an incident and an encounter with a suspicious student bring him back to the classroom.
There is a class of problems waiting there that seems to have long been abandoned. So the basic principle doesn't change much: Vollmer continues to rely on unconventional methods and is more interested in the reality of his students' lives than in rigid curricula. The fact that Duryn was also involved behind the scenes as a creative consultant this time suggests that the character will continue in its familiar form.

New staff, old conflicts
The reboot also includes a breath of fresh air in the cast. Birte Hanusrichter plays Vollmer's quick-witted neighbor Nadia, while Tanja Schleiff as school principal Vanessa Bohm causes conflict – especially when Vollmer goes his own way again.
The student roles include Kya-Celina Barucki, Luke Matt Röntgen and Katharina Hirschberg as well as Acelya Sezer, Leon Ndiaye, Linus Moog and Nevio Wendt. In terms of content, the new episodes address current topics: pressure to perform, psychological stress, pregnancy in adolescence and questions of sexual identity are the focus.

The teacher: A success story since 2009
The series “The Teacher” celebrated its premiere on RTL in 2009. After an initially slow start, the series became an integral part of the program, especially after its return in 2013, and ran successfully on Thursday evenings for several seasons. In total, the format had over 70 episodes before it was temporarily phased out in 2021. Until the new episodes start, you can watch the old seasons again on RTL+. (jve/spot on news)
