Förstina's long-time sales manager, local politician and carnival participant Gerhard Bub is celebrating a milestone birthday.
Eichenzell – Gerhard Bub, former authorized representative and sales manager of the Förstina mineral fountain, Welkerser veteran, local politician, member of the Fulda-Bonifatius Lions Club, FKG honorary and eleven council member, honorary officer and adjutant to Fulda's ex-Prince Lothar Hellmann, is celebrating his 70th birthday on Sunday.
Jack of all trades in business and carnival: Gerhard Bub turns 70 today
The celebrant was born on April 12, 1956 in Fulda – lived, grew up and still lives there in Welkers today. After graduating from school, he completed training as a machine fitter. Immediately afterwards, the Bundeswehr “called” for 18 months of service.
Bub started his career at the Förstina-Sprudel company on June 1, 1977, initially as a truck driver. At the end of the 1980s, he became a field representative for the Bavarian administrative districts of Upper and Lower Franconia, before swapping his car seat for an office chair in the 1990s. He was sales manager and authorized representative for 25 years. During his work at the company, he was involved in social projects.
The company was a supporter of the for many years FC fundraising campaign “I need your help” with the cycling foursome, hiking foursome and the cross-country skiing foursome as well as the Förstina fountain festival, which enjoyed great popularity for many years. Gerhard Bub has been retired for four years – after 45 years with the company. In 1974 he met and fell in love with his wife Monika at a party in Flieden-rückers. The two married on June 9, 1979.
Although retired, there is no sign of peace. The diverse commitment of the father of two is well known. He was active in local politics for 30 years: on the local council of his hometown, in the Eichenzell community council and on the main and finance committee. He was also active for many years on the board of the support group of the Welkers sports club and the volunteer fire department. Among other things, he was one of the founding members of the youth fire department and was involved in the parish's administrative board. Of course, he was in charge of the organizing committee for the “850 Years of Welker” celebrations.
Carnival member and Lions President
Carnival is also an integral part of his leisure activities. In 1979 he and his wife Monika headed the Welkers band of fools as a prince couple and were major in the Welkers Prince Guard for many years afterwards. In 2003 he accompanied Fulda's then Prince Lothar LXII as an adjutant. from the Emperor's Meadows (Lothar Hellmann). The Fulda Carnival Society (FKG) and the Fulder Foaset cast a spell on him. From 2011 to 2025, Bub was treasurer of the association. He is also an honorary officer of the Citizens' and Princes' Guard, a member of the Elferrat and, since 2025, an honorary member of the FKG and a recipient of the Order of Flora.
Since 2006 he has also been involved in the Fulda-Bonifatius Lions Club. He served as president in 2013/2014. His motto back then: “Take responsibility, help with joy.”
His wife Monika, their two daughters Michaela and Julia and their husbands, four grandchildren, relatives, friends, acquaintances and numerous carnival participants congratulated him on his special day.
