A new joint parliamentary group in the district council of the Fulda district wants to act with combined forces in the future. FDP and FGG join forces.

Fulda – As those involved announced in a press release, the FDP and FGG (Fulda Shaping Together) have officially merged to form the FDP/FGG faction.

According to information from the FDP and FGG, the new parliamentary group includes Mario Klotzsche, Professor Dr. Thomas Stegmann and Ulas Topal. Klotzsche was elected group leader, his deputies are the other two group members Stegmann and Topal.

New political force: FDP and FGG form alliance in Fulda

According to their own statements, those involved in the merger are aiming to further develop local political work in the Fulda district in a fact-oriented, citizen-oriented manner and with a clear design ambition. The focus should not be on supra-regional debates, but rather on concrete decisions that have a direct impact on the citizens in the district.

“With the FDP/FGG parliamentary group, we are pooling our strengths to work reliably, constructively and with a clear local political orientation in the district council. For us, the focus is on the Fulda district. We want to take responsibility and make our contribution to ensuring that the district continues to develop in a modern, economically strong and livable manner in the coming years,” explains the new parliamentary group leader Mario Klotzsche.

In terms of content, the group says it wants to concentrate on key future issues for the district. These include a solid and economical budget policy, strengthening education and digitalization, promoting economic development, a modern transport and mobility policy, supporting clubs and voluntary work, as well as good framework conditions for affordable housing and the development of new commercial space.

“Especially at the district level, people expect objective decisions. It's about good schools, efficient administration, economic prospects, reliable infrastructure and responsible use of public funds. We want to concentrate on this specific work,” continued Klotzsche.

The new parliamentary group sees itself as a pragmatic force in the district council, according to the statement. Professor Dr. Thomas Stegmann emphasizes: “The cooperation in the FDP/FGG faction is based on the common will to shape district politics with reason, a sense of proportion and a sense of responsibility. We want to focus on what connects us and concentrate on the issues that are really relevant for the local people.”

New faction wants to “work constructively” and “take responsibility”

Ulas Topal also underlines the local political ambition of the cooperation: “The district of Fulda has great opportunities. We want to take advantage of these opportunities with a policy that is close to the people, remains open to new ideas and at the same time handles the district's opportunities responsibly. That is what our joint group stands for.”

According to those involved, the constitution of the FDP/FGG parliamentary group sends a clear signal: the new parliamentary group wants to work constructively in the district council, take responsibility and play an active role in shaping the district.

At the The FDP won 3.1 percent of the votes in the local elections on March 15th. The FGG got 0.86 percent – which is enough for a seat in the district council.
