Residents said the building had been abandoned for many years. Renovation work has been carried out recently, but neither barriers nor warning tape have been installed.
The contractor who was responsible for renovating the building in recent days and the engineer in charge were arrested. The responsible authorities are now in the process of determining the exact cause of the accident, the Greek radio continued. (dpa/dga)
