The Bundesliga club is keeping its fingers crossed for him91 years old! Candidate Reiner writes “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” story
Goosebumps at “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”
91 years old – and suddenly he is sitting opposite Günther Jauch on the most famous quiz chair in Germany. Reiner Spänkuch makes history in the “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” Easter special because he is the oldest candidate to ever play for the million on the show. You can see how he was surprised by his participation in the video above.
“I’m still alive!”
The fact that Reiner ends up on the chair at all is no coincidence – but part of a special concept. In the “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” Easter special No traditional applicants are invited. Instead, unsuspecting spectators sit in the audience who have been secretly registered by their loved ones and suddenly from Günther Jauch be asked to sit on the quiz chair.
This is exactly what happens to Reiner Spänkuch. What begins as a normal visit turns into an unforgettable experience for him. It quickly becomes clear: The 91-year-old is full of joy for life – and he rightly brings a large portion of pride with him: “I'm a pensioner and my daughter is a pensioner and I'm still alive! And my wife is still alive at 91 and is also mentally fit.” A statement that not only causes laughter in the studio, but also genuine admiration.

“Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” candidate receives support from the Bundesliga
Anyone who thinks that at the age of 91 you can take things easy is completely wrong with Reiner. He is still active today – right in the middle of RB Leipzig's stadium operations. He has been volunteering there for years and, according to his own statement, is the oldest volunteer in Germany. “In the stadium I am mainly in the service area as a visitor guide.” He is not only a familiar face for many fans there, as the next surprise shows:
As if Reiner's appearance wasn't special enough, he also gets celebrity support before the quiz starts. Ole Werner, head coach of RB Leipzig, reports with a video message and a clear announcement: “No one will get the million, except Reiner!” And Leipzig defender Lukas Klostermann, who quizzed Jauch with the DFB team in 2010, also wishes him good luck for his big moment. You can also see the video messages from RB Leipzig in the video above.
