According to the East Hesse Police Headquarters, the theft occurred between Friday, March 20th and Monday, March 30th. During this period, previously unknown perpetrators forcibly removed the statue from its fastening and stole it from the cemetery grounds in Großenlüder.
The police are asking witnesses who have observed suspicious people or vehicles in the area of the cemetery on Langenberger Weg or who can provide information about the Madonna's whereabouts to contact the East Hesse police headquarters. The officers' phone number: (0661) 1050.
