Flieden – As the municipality of Flieden reports, the contamination was discovered during a routine examination of the drinking water in the supply network. The water network in the Flieden district of Rückers is affected, including the hamlets and farms of Leimenhof, Keutzelbuch and Krackhof.

The boiling requirement requires all citizens of the affected districts to boil drinking water for at least five minutes before using it – especially for drinking, preparing food and drinks, brushing teeth and cleaning open wounds and baby bottles. According to the municipality, tap water can still be used safely for flushing toilets, personal hygiene without open wounds and washing clothes. The affected households were informed directly about the measures via letter on Tuesday (March 31st).
The background to the now expanded regulation is a finding in the management system of the St. Nikolaus kindergarten in Rückers that was discovered three weeks ago as part of a regular inspection. Since then, the facility has had its own boiling water requirement. According to the municipality, further control samples were subsequently taken to get a comprehensive picture of the situation. A sample taken on Monday (March 30th) finally showed that bacteria were also detectable in the wider water network in the district. Therefore, as a precautionary measure, the boiling requirement was extended to the entire district including Leimenhof, Keutzelbuch and Krackhof.
