The humpback whale in the Baltic Sea bay off Wismar is getting worse and worse. Experts now have new, worrying news about the animal.

Whale is stuck on sandbank again

The breathing rate of the humpback whale off the Baltic Sea coast is reduced. The German Maritime Museum announced this on its website. The whale was weakened, said biologist Lisa Klemens from the German Oceanographic Museum when asked early in the evening. She was there herself until recently. His situation is unchanged. But: “He has the opportunity to move away from where he is currently lying.”

The drama surrounding the humpback whale in the Baltic Sea has been going on for days. On the night of Sunday (March 29th) the animal broke free off Wismar, and a short time later it was stuck again. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Environment Minister Till Backhaus (SPD) had previously reported that they now wanted to leave the whale alone – in the hope that it would recharge its batteries, free itself and find its way out of the Baltic Sea.
