1200 years of Niederkalbach – this anniversary was celebrated on Saturday evening with an entertaining festival in the community center. Singing, film, food and entertaining speeches made for a successful evening.

Niederkalbach – The fact that the residents of the Kalbach district like to sing about their homeland is known far beyond the local borders. So it's no wonder that the evening started with exactly these songs by the St. Lawrence Choir and that the official part also ended with it. During the final song to the melody of Reinhard Mey's “Über den Wolken”, rewritten by Markus Hackenberg, the festival guests could no longer stay on their seats. The song was sung loudly while standing.

But back to the beginning of the evening: “Gandalf”, aka Markus Hackenberg, brought the history of the place to life in an impressive film by Arnd Rössel. And as is usual on such evenings, the deputy mayor Dieter Müller (BfK) opened the round of speakers. He emphasized that this day filled him with pride: “Our history is not just a series of years, it is a story of challenges and successes, of change and stability. Wars and crises have been overcome. Time and again people have shown: solidarity is our great strength.”

Kalbach's mayor Mark Bagus (independent) also emphasized: “1200 years of Niederkalbach: what a number, what a history and what a place! Generations have made Niederkalbach what it is today: a place with history and heart.” A special thank you went to the creators of the village chronicle and the people who were committed to the place today – be it at work, in voluntary work, in clubs or in everyday life. Finally, he wished him a nice festival weekend in August.

District Administrator Bernd Woide (CDU) made it clear that an anniversary like this above all tells the story of the people: “I wish you that the cohesion that has always characterized Niederkalbach will continue to exist in the future.” With a wink, he announced that he would stop by the festival weekend in August.

Michael Brand (CDU), member of the Bundestag and Parliamentary State Secretary, emphasized that the effort in the town was exemplary: “Niederkalbach is one of those places that is a strong part of our country, a strong part of Germany.” He also emphasized that people are firmly committed to their hometown.

“A strong piece of Germany” – local commitment is exemplary

The “new” father and member of the state parliament Sebastian Müller (CDU) considered it important to be at this celebration despite his domestic obligations: “You can be proud of the community,” he shouted to the guests in the hall. The member of the state parliament also discussed the infrastructure, the local businesses and the clubs. “Your rich club landscape is something special.” And with a smile he added: “As a member of the drum and fanfare procession of the Ho-Bi-Fa carnival society, I already know the champagne bar, at the back on the right, very well.” This earned him a lot of laughter and applause.

Gerhard Müller (SPD), chairman of the local council, stated that this village is a piece of home and worth living in. Chaplain Philipp Schöppner wished God's rich blessings to the women and men of Niederkalbach. Further greetings with humorous comments came from Neuhof's mayor Heiko Stolz (CDU) and the chairman of the Flieden municipal council, Georg Schöppner.

A special highlight was the presentation of the new village chronicle by Daniel Föller. 432 pages long, weighing 2031 grams and designed with great attention to detail, it documents the history of 48 generations. More than 1,000 hours of work went into the work, which was published in an edition of 800 copies. It can now be purchased for 35 euros. The evening was moderated with confidence and charm and humor by Markus Hackenberg. After the official part, there was chatting and celebrating at the bar and in the hall. One or two dared to dance to the music of the “Original Rhönadler”.
