The sale of Tegut is also causing uncertainty in the Main-Kinzig district as to what will happen to the branches there. District Administrator Thorsten Stolz therefore asked the company board for information.
Gelnhausen/Fulda – “The news about the planned withdrawal of Migros Zurich from the German market and the associated sale of the Tegut branches are also causing great uncertainty in the Main-Kinzig district,” explains Stolz in a statement from the district. He therefore wrote a letter to the Tegut board Fulda with managing director Sven Kispalko.
MKK district administrator demands information on the future of the Tegut markets
From there, the district administrator hopes to receive information on how things should continue with the Tegut markets and especially the Teo locations in the district. Tegut is not only an important employer, but also an established component of local local supply, the district administrator is quoted in the statement. Above all The Teo markets close important supply gaps in the rural areas of the district.
There is great concern among customers and employees that smaller or less profitable locations will not be continued. The question of maintaining jobs remains in the room. “That's why I make it clear in my letter that the full-time municipal decision-makers must be informed promptly about the current status of the sales negotiations. After all, we have a very high density of Tegut stores in the Main-Kinzig district that could potentially be affected by a closure,” explains SPD politician Stolz.
In his letter, the district administrator asked to be informed which branches and Teo locations are affected and whether part of the negotiations would be to talk about guarantees for the existence of locations that are of central importance for basic services in rural areas. “Even if all of the general conditions for the sale have not yet been finally decided, I believe that an open information policy towards local decision-makers is appropriate in this situation,” said Stolz.
Edeka takes over large parts of Tegut
In the official announcement about the Tegut sale, Migros also commented on the future of Smart Retail Solutions, the operator of the Teo locations in Germany. Just like the Tegut logistics center in Michelsrombach and the Herzberger bakery, Smart Retail Solutions will go to Edeka.
