With over 200 events, the 2025 Volcano Summer Cultural Festival in the Vogelsberg district thrilled people. The anticipation for 2027 is increasing. The BRASSers are scheduled to play in Alsfeld at the start.
Lauterbach – The Vogelsberg Cultural Promotion Association recently invited people to the “Volcano Summer Cultural Festival – Get-together” in the auditorium of the Alexander-von-Humboldt-Gymnasium in Lauterbach. The evening was all about looking back, giving thanks and looking forward. The Vogelsbergkreis recognized the successful 2025 cultural festival in an appreciative atmosphere.
A central element of the evening was a photo review that showed the diversity of places, genres and encounters and documented what made the 2025 festival special: cultural diversity, regional solidarity and extraordinary volunteer commitment.

The 2025 event brought around 200 events to the stage in 16 municipalities in the Vogelsberg district in ten weeks. Over 50 different organizers provided a varied program that ranged from readings and concerts to theater, open-air cinema and interactive formats.
At the same time, the starting signal was given for the planning of the Volcano Summer Cultural Festival 2027. The evaluation of an accompanying survey particularly highlighted the large number and diversity of the events – a vote that confirms the content of the festival series. In addition to the programmatic highlights, the most important key figures were presented.
The mixture of voluntary work, targeted support and a broad base of supporters contributed significantly to the success of the 2025 edition. The appeal of the festival in the Vogelsberg district was considerable. Feedback from the audience confirmed the social and cultural impact: the festival enabled encounters, opened up unusual places for culture and created starting points for new collaborations.
The association confirmed that it would continue the eventful and successful cultural year of 2025. The planned festival period for 2027 is from July 23rd to September 26th. In terms of content, the tried and tested diversity will be continued, and event notifications are expected to be made by March. At the same time, organizational key points were announced.
Organizers participating in Volcano Summer 2027 can apply for a flat-rate grant of 500 euros per organizer, subject to available funds. Funding acquisition is already underway. As a common crowd puller, the board is planning a kick-off event on August 6, 2027 with “BRASSers” on the market square in Alsfeld.

The association expressly invites you to submit wishes and suggestions for 2027. In the survey, the wish was often expressed “for things to continue in the same way”, supplemented by more sponsors and funding. The team is building on these expectations – with a marketing concept analogous to 2025 and room for individual adjustments.
A postcard campaign is an advertising campaign Hesse day in Fulda planned: postcards can be provided with your own address; The association sends them out as a friendly reminder shortly before the festival begins.
