Battery fire is fatal!
After a house fire in Vienna-Ottakring, a three-year-old girl died in hospital from her serious injuries. Her two-year-old brother's life is still in danger. The police now believe that a technical defect was the cause of the fire.
Both children had to be resuscitated
The fire occurred on Monday afternoon around 4:45 p.m. in an apartment in an apartment building in the Ottakring district of Vienna. When the fire brigade arrived, the emergency services gained access to the apartment and made a tragic discovery: they found two small children motionless in a room.
The fire department immediately took the siblings outside, where they were given first aid in a smoke-free area and then taken to a hospital. Both children had to be resuscitated after a cardiac arrest.
The two children's 14-year-old sister was also in the apartment at the time of the fire. She had looked after her siblings. She was also taken to hospital with minor injuries. It was recently unclear whether she could be released again.

According to the current police investigation, a technical defect may have caused the fire. Specifically, it is said that the battery of a handheld vacuum cleaner could have caught fire.
According to the police, there is no evidence of a breach of supervision. The parents are therefore not being investigated, as a spokesman for the state police department emphasized.
