Thailand fears for the eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn: The health of Princess Bha, who has been in the hospital for more than three years, has continued to deteriorate. As the palace announced on Thursday (May 21), colon inflammation has spread to the abdominal cavity and led to further complications. The 47-year-old suffers from “unstable vital signs”, low blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmias and a blood clotting disorder.
Bha collapsed during dog training
Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol, commonly known as Princess Bha, was rushed to hospital in December 2022 after collapsing during dog training. As the palace later announced, the princess, who is very popular in Thailand, had suffered severe blood poisoning and has since been dependent on devices and medication to support her lung and kidney function.
Now the palace announced that her condition had “further deteriorated”. The infection had become “uncontrollable” and had “infected other organs”. The princess continues to be treated with medication and is connected to life support machines.

Princess Bha is the only child from Maha Vajiralongkorn's first marriage. According to the Thai royal family's rules, which favor male offspring, she has no claim to the throne. She learned and studied in the UK, USA and Thailand and subsequently held several positions at the UN. Among other things, she campaigned for better treatment of women in prisons.
A year before she was hospitalized, the princess took on a senior position in the personal protection team of her 73-year-old father, who has a total of seven children from four marriages.
