Following a resolution by the local council, Bad Salzschlirf and Großenlüder are examining whether a joint recycling center can be built. It is unclear where this could arise and whether the Fulda district would support it.
Bad Salzschlirf – In January, the CDU parliamentary group in Bad Salzschlirf applied to examine inter-municipal cooperation with the municipality of Großenlüder to build and operate a joint recycling center. The community representatives of Bad Salzschlirf voted in favor.
The CDU justifies the application by saying that the recycling center on Mühlenweg is heavily frequented. Traffic is sometimes backed up in front of the entrance on Riedstrasse. Maneuvering trailers on the narrow road is always dangerous. Widening the road is not possible due to the property conditions.
Bad Salzschlirf and Großenlüder are examining a shared recycling center
“The recycling center for the community of Großenlüder is located on Finkenberg in the Kleinlüder district. The journey distance from the core community of Großenlüder is more than ten kilometers. That's why Großenlüder has been looking for a central location for a recycling center for years,” says the CDU's application.
It therefore makes sense to develop a common location between Großenlüder and Bad Salzschlirf. The Fulda district would cover 90 percent of the construction costs. “The operating costs incurred are borne by the waste disposal association for the Fulda district,” explains the CDU in its application. Despite the strained budget situation, the municipalities' own contributions are manageable.
Such an investment is in the interest of the residents and businesses of both communities. “I cannot understand the reason for the application,” says Peter Klug (FWL), mayor of Bad Salzschlirf, when asked by the Fuldaer Zeitung. But he admits: “The road is narrow. This often leads to traffic jams, which is stupid.”
“But if everyone treats each other with consideration, then it works.” Otherwise there is nothing to complain about at the recycling center. Nevertheless: “There are always opportunities for improvement,” says Klug. It is questionable whether a new recycling center would really be supported by the district and whether a suitable location would be found.
Mayors are in discussions about the recycling center
The next step is to make an appointment with the district's waste management association. Peter Klug already has an area in mind. “The shared recycling center would ideally be located in Bad Salzschlirf and close to Großenlüder.” He did not want to provide any further details at this time.
Florian Fritzsch (independent), mayor of Großenlüder, likes the idea of a shared recycling center. Because currently “our citizens have to take their waste to the Finkenberg recycling center in Kleinlüder or the Industriepark-West in Fulda.”
A location in Bad Salzschlirf means shorter distances. Klug and Fritzsch are in communication regarding further plans. Households in the city and district of Fulda now produce the third most waste per capita in all of Hesse14 percent more than the national average. This emerges from the Hessian waste quantity balance.
