A 26-year-old from Fulda has become a victim of so-called sextortion. A stranger on the Internet blackmails him with intimate photos.
Fulda – According to the police report, the 26-year-old chatted with a stranger via social media on Wednesday (April 8) and Thursday (April 9). After a short time, the chat partners exchanged intimate photos.
The stranger then threatened to send the intimate photos to the 26-year-old's friends list if he did not comply with the demand to buy payment cards and send the corresponding codes to the blackmailer.

The police call this form of online blackmail the term “sextortion”. The perpetrators use fake profiles to contact their potential victims via social media or dating platforms. They try to gain their trust through clever conversation in order to obtain intimate photos or videos. They then threaten to send them to friends or colleagues of the victims if no money is paid.
In this context, the police urgently warn not to send intimate content to strangers, not even in a video chat. You should always be suspicious of unusually fast approaches on the Internet. If blackmail occurs, the police advise not to pay any money. The requests wouldn't end there. Chat histories and screenshots should also be saved for possible investigations.
It's not about the first case of sexual blackmail in East Hesse. A few months ago, a young man from Vogelsberg became a victim of criminals on the Internet.
